What to do Downstream of Mildura

 

Wentworth Services Club and Wentworth Township..
Houseboat mooring at this club gives access to the township of Wentworth. Shopping facilities as well as meals and entertainment is available just a short walk from your houseboat. Visit the information centre and museum for directions to local tourist attractions. There is plenty of history surrounding Wentworth, spend a whole day exploring this town. Suggested 3/4 night holiday upstream.

1st day.  Arrive Mildura, settle onboard (shopping), driving lesson and moor for the night near lock, and just relax after your trip.

Day 2.  Travel upstream to Trentham Estate winery (2.5 hours), wine tasting and lunch if desired. Travel up a bit further and moor for the night. If over .05 stay at the winery.
            OR travel up to Psyche Pumps, the first irrigation pump established in Mildura in 1890’s (open Tues & Thurs 2-4 pm),
Travel another hour to Red Cliffs, scenic spot to moor for the night.

Day 3.  Travel back towards Mildura (3.5 hours), stop at Gol Gol Hotel for dinner, stay overnight.

Day 4. Back to Mildura (1 Hour) to disembark by 9.30 am.

Day 2.  Travel down through Lock 11 at 9 or 10 am. Travel downstream towards Coomealla, walk up to Austra lian Inland Botanical Gardens or travel a bit further and have afternoon tea at River Road Pottery.  Move down to Coomealla Golf Club, (mooring with power).
Visit Wentworth Services Club for dinner and pokies.

Day 3. Play 18 holes golf at Coomealla before lunch and then travel back to the lock.  Mooring either on Lock Island or above if back early (last lock is 4.30 pm), have dinner at Mildura’s great range of
restaurants.

Day 4. Back to Acacia moorings and disembark by 9.30 am.

            OR travel to Trentham Estate winery (2.5 hours), wine tasting and lunch if desired. Travel up a bit further and moor for the night. If over .05 stay at the winery.
            OR travel up to Psyche Pumps, the first irrigation pump established in Mildura in 1890’s (open Tues & Thurs 2-4 pm), good fishing on the bends around here.

Day 3. Travel another hour to Red Cliffs, scenic spot to moor for the night. Try a bit of fishing along the way. Red Cliffs is great for photo’s at daylight. From Red Cliffs travel to Bottle Bend, great fishing on these bends, worth mooring around here.

Day 4. Travel back to Gol Gol Hotel for dinner, moor for the night.

Day 5. Travel down through Lock 11 at 9 or 10 am. Travel downstream towards Coomealla, walk up to Australian Inland Botanical Gardens or travel a bit further and have afternoon tea at River Road Pottery (2.5 hrs).  Moor along the way, good fishing around the “Sand Dredge”

Day 6. Move down to Coomealla Golf Club, (mooring with power). Visit Services club for dinner and pokies, perhaps play a round of golf or lawn bowls. IGA Licensed Supermarket available.

Day 7. Travel back to the Lock 11 , mooring either on Lock Island or above if back early (last lock is 4.30pm), have dinner at one of Mildura’s great restaurants.

Day 8. Back to Acacia moorings and disembark by 9.30 am.
